Kirsty has changed

Kirsty has changed recently. I can't put it into words, but the safe little mouse I married three years ago is now different somehow. I thought that she would be the perfect 'stay at home' Wife who would look after the house and have my children eventually, but circumstances put paid to that theory.

I lost my job two years ago so Kirsty was obliged to go out to work and took up the offer of a job from a local building contractors. Consequently she is now the Personal Assistant to the CEO, Mr Desmond Obikwa.

She doesn't tell me much about her job but it does take up much of her time; for example she spent last weekend with him at his house doing the annual financial statement - again. I thought that was the Accountant's job but Desmond phoned me to tell me that he needed her, so I guess that must be so.

I have mentioned to her that some of her outfits for the office are a little inappropriate but she tells me not to worry. "A Lady likes to look her best," she told me this morning as she left for work. And she was right - she looked especially lovely as you can see, along with everybody else.

As she went out the door Kirsty told me that she was going to be very late tonight, which is pretty normal. But when I tried to phone her this afternoon the girl I spoke to couldn't stop giggling and didn't know where she was - silly cow - Kirsty works right alongside her at the same desk.

I guess that, now Kirsty is the 'breadwinner' of our marriage, she has every right to pursue a career...

... I just hope that she is not doing something silly, that's all.
